The Six Mile Regional Library District (SMRLD) is proud to provide high-quality information service that goes beyond what is findable on the Internet. Professional librarians are available six days a week to help you with what you want to know. We accept e-mail, fax, in-person, and telephone questions. You can also make an appointment to speak with an information specialist when he or she is not staffing the reference desk. We can help when you are looking to:

Home Delivery for the Homebound

The Six Mile Regional Library District offers home delivery for people in Granite City, Mitchell, Pontoon Beach, or portions of Arlington who are homebound. To qualify for home delivery a person needs a doctor's note stating he or she is homebound and a valid SMRLD library card. The person applies for home delivery with our Extension Services department (call 452-6238 and ask to speak to Donna Asbeck). We will then interview the person to understand reading interests and needs and we will negotiate delivery days and times to meet the capabilities of the library district and the needs of the homebound person.

E-book Readers

Thinking of buying an e-book reader? These are the readers that are compatible with our free downloads: Barnes & Noble nook 3G+WiFi, Barnes & Noble nook Wi-Fi, Kobo eReader, Pandigital Novel, Sony Reader Daily Edition, Sony Reader PRS-505, Sony Reader Touch Edition, Sony Reader Pocket Edition, and Sony Reader PRS-700.

If you live in Mitchell, Pontoon Beach, Granite City or some sections of Arlington you can get a library card at no charge! With a library card you can access many of our magazines and database subscriptions from home, work, or school.
